In May 2009, I spent a few hours walking the grounds of the Brookside Gardens in Maryland state, United States of America. This beautiful garden covers an area of 50 acres and is free to the public because it is administered by the Montgomery County government. I highly recommend arriving early in the morning to avoid the crowds.
I visited a live butterfly exhibit, "Wings of Fancy," in a greenhouse at the garden. The exhibit featured butterflies from north America, Costa Rica, and Asia. I spent one hour in the hot greenhouse photographing the butterflies.
During my trip to Costa Rica in March 2009, I was rushed through a butterfly exhibit. At Brookside Gardens, I was able to take the time to fully admire the butterflies, which I was unable to do in Costa Rica.
