In September, 2014, I spent three days in Québec City in Canada before embarking on the cruise ship, ms Veendam, from the Holland America Line. Québec City is beautiful and historic. Unfortunately, the cruise was canceled by the Veendam's captain on the second day when one of the two propellers developed a mechanical problem.
I spent several days exploring the old sections of Québec City that are inside the fortification walls. I stayed in the Hôtel Manoir de l’Esplanade. I visited both the upper town, the lower town, and the river front.
I visited La Citadelle and Montomorency Falls. At the Notre-Dame de Québec Basilica-Cathedral, I walked through the cathedral’s Holy Door. The thick bronze door was completed and opened in December 2013 to celebrate the cathedral’s 350-year anniversary in 2014.
I embarked the Veendam, which was docked at the Port of Québec. On day two of the cruise, even before Veendam departed Québec, the captain canceled the cruise due to a mechanical problem with one of the two propellers.
